String Quartet?

When people are thinking of organising classical music for a special event, they often think first of a string quartet. But why not try a flute quartet – flute, violin, viola and cello? Repertoire that works for a string quartet usually also works for a flute quartet, but the flute adds interest and flexibility to the sound.
Or if there isn’t enough space for a quartet, either in the venue or in the budget, a flute trio (flute, violin and cello) might be the answer, or maybe just a duo of flute and violin. If the venue has a piano, attractive combinations include a trio of flute, violin and piano, or a duo of flute and piano.
